A dance performance by Indian-American dancing group Bhangra Empire during the half-time show of a professional basketball match in the US?on Sunday night is winning hearts, with its video going viral on social media. The group comprising of both men and women dominated California’s enormous Oracle Arena at Oakland for around five minutes with its power-packed bhangra performance. The video that was posted by the Facebook page of NBA India received an overwhelming response from the netizens. Within less than 24 hours, the dance performance has been viewed over 450,000 times and shared nearly 8,000 times on Facebook. It has got around 1,800 comments and 15,000 reactions till Tuesday afternoon. Bhangra Empire is based in the Bay Area, California, and was founded in 2006. It performs with the motto, ‘Bringing bhangra to the mainstream, one performance at a time’. It is no stranger to fame. In 2009, Bhangra Empire performed at the White House State Dinner, hosted by the then US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to honour the then Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The group made its national television debut on season 5 of NBC’s show America’s Got Talent.
