Don’t let the heat bog you down, all you Delhi and Gurugram people! It’s Fri-yay, today, and the party is on us. After a stellar opening act of Hindustan Times DLF Cyber Hub Friday Jam Season 5, powered by Too Yumm and Nearbuy.com, last Friday, get ready for another night of musical revelry. Also, laugh out loud with a stand-up comedy act. Taking the stage over tonight would be the popular band Indian Ocean. For all those looking for a nice weekend vibe with their family and friends, the band will belt out some amazing numbers. Here’s a chance not just to groove to their old hits Bandeh, Ma Rewa, Des Mera, but also witness some of their new compositions. Himanshu Joshi from the band says, “Delhi-NCR hamara ilaka hain (smiles). We’re really excited and look forward to it, as a jam like this gets an interesting audience. There will be new compositions, as we play them quite a few times before we release them. We never go prepared with a set list ever. We always see the audience’s response, and see how it is going and discuss among ourselves when the concert is on.” With Friday Jam being the place to be, it gets a wide audience comprising almost all age groups, from office-goers and to school-going kids. “The person behind the tie is a person who likes the music as well. Music is an amazing stress-buster whether you are listening to it or playing. It’s part of your life in some or other way. There are oldies like us who have been hearing Indian Ocean and coming for the concert (laughs). There are times we get a great audience among the corporate crowd as well. And, the new audience is very responsive,” says Joshi, adding, “Muft mein ho raha hain, aa jao saare (smiles).” Well, don’t ignore your favourite band’s call; come one, come all — it’s free after all! Atul Atri, centre head, DLF CyberHub, says, “Everyone looks forward to Fridays to enjoy good quality music and we are extremely delighted to host the 5th edition of HT Friday Jam. The much-awaited event of the year had a commendable start with Punjabi sensation Guru Randhawa, who made the city sway to his euphonious tunes. From Bollywood, rock, fusion and folk to hip-hop, the event has something for every music aficionado. One can enjoy different genres of music. This Friday, Indian Ocean will be belting out its hit tracks at the festival. We look forward to a splendid evening ahead.”
