The 7th anniversary celebrations of Lamakaan concluded on a jovial and energetic note, with Indian Ocean fame Rahul Ram entertaining the audience not only with his songs but also with his quick-witted and humorous take on different realms of music. The event began with the screening of Leaving Home, a full-length documentary film based on the life and music of the iconic rock band Indian Ocean. Directed by Jaideep Varma, the movie portrays the formation of the band, its journey and junctures through narrations by the band members. Leaving Home not only threw insights into the band but also brought to light their little secret to survival in the industry over two decades. The entrenched humour sense was a common thread running through and binding them together. After the screening, L Ravichander took over the stage next, engaging Rahul Ram in a conversation where they discussed music — from the past to the present and future. Talking about launching their genre to an audience who were not exposed to it at that point of time, Rahul said, “The contribution of all the band members to a song is equal and co-dependent. We make music for ourselves first. If the four of us liked, we went ahead with it and if we liked, the audience also always liked it.” The event progressed to become highly engaging and entertaining with Rahul sharing funny instances and the audience reciprocating. He also sang a couple of the band’s popular numbers like Ma Rewa and Mere Samne Wali Sarhad Pe among others, as per the request of audience.
