In its sixth year, our week long festival will be in New York from August 13 - 19 and San Francisco from August 22 - 26. It is a festival that regularly features some of the best artists of the year from all over the globe(last year The New York Times mentioned two Drive East artists as the top 10 of 2017) and is an immersive experience into the world of Indian classical arts. Whether you are a seasoned patron or interested in learning more, there is an experience for everyone in this extraordinary festival. Breathing magical melodies on the Indian bamboo flute, Flute virtuoso V.K Raman is one of the leading flautists in the Carnatic style of music .Raman with his unique style has captivated audiences globally & his most recent Cd, Music for deep meditation reached the # 1 spot on the apple I tunes world music charts & remained in the top 50 albums for more than 6 months. Raman recently won the “Best Flautist Award” from Madras Music Academy for his concert during December Music Festival 2009. Raman is a featured artist in the “Miles from India” tour & performs with legends Dave Liebman, Lenny White, Mandolin Shrinivas, Selvaganesh (Remember Shakti), Darryl Jones (Rolling Stones), John Beasley (Finding Nemo,) and has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, San Francisco Jazz Festival & Miles from India fest at Paris. Raman has performed with South Indian music Legends like Dr M Balamuralikrishna, Dr N Ramani, and A.K Palanivel& has also been touring as a special guest with the legendary Singer & Guinness record holder K.J Yesudas.
