Over the past decade, Karsh has been invited to perform at many prestigious venues and festivals around the globe and was even invited to perform at the White House where he was introduced by Former President Obama himself. He has become a noted composer in the world of film and his artistic presence can be felt on TV shows like the Cannes Award Winning show The Dewarists, as well as popular shows such as Coke Studio @ MTV and MTV Sound Trippin. In 2013 Kale curated special live performances featuring musicians from across the NH7 Weekender Festival to present as the grand finale set that left audiences wanting more at each edition of the four festivals. In 2016, he also performed and curated the finale at each edition of Wanderlust Yoga Festival tour throughout the US. Be it with his live ensembles, or as a world-renowned producer, Karsh Kale continues to push the boundaries of music in many directions as well as continues to be one the most sought after collaborators of his generation. For his long awaited Boston area return to OBERON on Thursday, March 1 2018, Kale will perform live on tabla and also DJ. He will be accompanied by acclaimed New York City based musicians Max ZT on santoor (dulcimer) and Jay Gandhi on Indian bansuri (flute). Max ZT also leads the band House of Waters and signed to Snarky Puppy's Ground Up record label (House of Waters also play for Celebrity Series Boston Stave Session on March 21). Hailed as the 'Jimi Hendrix of the hammered dulcimer' by NPR, Max is a longtime student of Indian classical music and santoor pioneer, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. Jay Gandhi's Indian bansuri playing has long been a fixture of the Brooklyn Raga Massive collective in NY and beyond. Gandhi is a teacher, performer and a senior student of legendary Indian classical flute maestro, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Boston local DJ and recent Chicago transplant DJ Warp will open the event and support.
