Hum A Cappella
- Music
- Hum A Cappella was founded in 2001 and is the South Asian a cappella group at the University of Texas at Austin. Hum blends cultures and puts a unique spin on both Hindi and English songs. From its six-member inception, Hum has evolved into a group of highly dynamic vocalists who arrange all of their songs by themselves. We have competed at a variety of local and national competitions including ICCA, Jhalak, Taal, Nasha, Texas Revue, Gathe Raho in Iowa, and Anahat in California. We also perform at weddings and charity events. Hum released its debut album "One Try" in 2002, and we are currently working on producing our sixth album. Our team comes from a variety of musical backgrounds, and our collaboration and appreciation for a cappella music keeps us constantly moving forward.

- Music
- Maize Mirchi is the University of Michigan's South Asian inspired a cappella group! We sing a blend of Indian, Western and fusion music. In the a cappella tradition, all of our music is made without instruments, and all of our arrangements are unique and student-written. Our membership consists of undergraduate students with musical experience ranging from classical Indian and Western choral training to "Hey, I sound pretty good in the shower.Founded in 2007 by Suresh Mohan and Arvind Narayanan, Mirchi has since performed at such events as the University of Michigan IASA Show (the largest student-run production in the nation), Dandia Dhamaka (an intercollegiate Raas-Garba competition), and Awaazein (a South Asian A Cappella Competition at UTD). We are also active in the U of M a cappella community and enjoy performing at the yearly "MACFest" and "MAC Charity Fest," concerts featuring multiple on-campus a cappella groups. Mirchi also puts on 2 concerts each year, one per semester.

We also host Mehfil, our annual showcase of South Asian a cappella at USC. Asli Baat blends both classical and contemporary South Asian music with Western musical styles including Hip Hop, R&B, Pop and American Top 40 songs. We recently released our latest EP, "ABCD", in 2015. Check it out on iTunes or Spotify, or on our Music page! You can also watch some of our previous performances on YouTube.
