What's life without a little Masti? Bringing high energy and a little mischief to each performance, Penn Masti adds a co-ed twist to South Asian fusion dance. We pride ourselves on experimenting with various dance styles: Hindi film dance, bhangra, hip-hop, jazz, raas, bharatanatyam, lyrical, modern, folk, broadway, and even Filipino tinikling. We are on the up and up: Mastis annual spring show packs the Iron Gate Theatre, and we competed for the first time in 2011 at Princeton Dance Dimensions.

UCR Afsana

We are the University of California, Riversides co-ed, competitive Hindi Film Dance team. Afsana, referring to a short tale or a short story, is based on dedication, passion, hard work and creativity, with the main goal of combining Hindi Film influenced dance and theatrics to create engaging productions with and for members of the student body as well as our community.

MIT Mirchi

Mirchi is MIT's premier co-ed Bollywood fusion dance team. Formed in 2012, Mirchi's collective spirit embodies community, culture, and a love for all forms of dance. Over the years, we've been honored to represent MIT and greater Boston at various competitions and showcases across the country. We've grown to be more than a dance team - we're a family united by our shared roots and passion for performing.

CMU Sahara

The objective of CMU Sahara is to bring together and provide an opportunity for dancers across Carnegie Mellon University to showcase their talent and discover a sense of community through collaborative team effort via the collective passion for Bollywood dance. This co-ed team aims to develop, teach and promote the culture of Bollywood dancing through on and off campus competitions and performances.

NCSU Nazaare

NCSU Nazaare is a team of students from North Carolina State University, as well as a few neighboring schools in the area. Our favorite thing to do is dance and we love sharing this passion with our family, friends, and community. Since the founding of the team in the fall of 2012, we have performed for numerous events around North Carolina and around the east coast.

Bollywood dance is a dance form used in Indian cinema. It is a mixture of styles of dance through which a story related to the film is told. Styles include belly-dancing, Kathak, Indian folk, Western popular and modern, jazz, hip hop, and even contemporary. Songs are pre-recorded in a studio by singers, who have their own fan base, but worked into the plot so that the character has a reason to sing. The lyrics have deep meaning to them and it is promptly important for the actors to express that through graceful movements of the body. As a Bollywood dance team, we put together our own medley of songs from both the East and West. We hope to compete at Bollywood competitions around the United States.
