UCLA Taara is an award winning competitive South Asian Classical dance team. We combine various classical dance styles including Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi and Kathak to create innovative routines that preserve the traditional beauty of classical dance and provide an explorative venue for modern day storytelling. Founded in Fall 2013, Taara is comprised of a small group of driven UCLA students who are committed to the preservation of the classical arts and its relevance in future generations.
Natya at Berkeley is the premier Bharatanatyam team at UC Berkeley. Founded in Spring 2013, Natya at Berkeley aims to cultivate artistic talent and cultural awareness within the community.
Moksha is the University of Maryland's premier Indian classical dance team.As a team of talented and dedicated dancers, we bring together various forms of Indian classical dance to create unique works of performing art. We choreograph all our pieces ourselves, utilizing the expertise and creativity of all the dancers, and apply our traditional steps to contemporary music. Our goal is to raise awareness of our unique art form through performances at the University of Maryland and elsewhere.
Natya is the University of Washington's premier Indian Classical dance team. It was initiated in 2009 by a few undergraduates who have been trained in Indian classical dance styles such as Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi.
Throughout the years, Natyas mission has been to make Indian classical dance fun, exciting, and accessible to audience members by incorporating elements of the dances traditional styles as well as contemporary Western culture. Natya is commended for their energy and enthusiasm while performing; they have given over 50 performances that have ranged from talent competitions to cultural shows.
