SLU Raas
- Dance
- The Saint Louis University Raas team was formed in 2007 by a group of ambitious students to preserve and promote Gujarati culture. Throughout the years, the commitment and dedication of the team members has allowed SLU Raas to excel from a small unknown team, to a popular and well known team across the nation. SLU Raas has a compiled a very successful track record in the past few years with numerous first places finishes, resulting in multiple invitations to the Best of the Best competition and the Raas All-Stars Championship--where the team took second place in 2010. Although we love having fun and thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the experience, we work extremely hard to create an energetic and exciting routine for our audiences around the country. We look forward to attending as many competitions as possible and meeting some amazing people from different teams throughout the country.

The MSU Raas Team brings a vibrant, upbeat, and exciting traditional dance to the raas world. Amidst the hectic life of being college students, working towards our careers, and being young adults, we vow to never forget our cultural roots. Through countless hours practicing Raas-Garba dance steps, twirling our dandias, and choreographing synchronized movements, we aim to preserve our heritage and ignite everyones passion for our beloved dance. - Founded in 2006, University of Floridas professional Garba/Raas dance team, GatoRaas has been Floridas premiere garba/raas team for the past 9 years. We compete locally and nationally every year, winning the Raas All Stars National Championship in 2010 and placing at other national competitions like Miami Mayhem. We always welcome support to join us at these events! We perform not only on the UF campus but also at private parties such as weddings, receptions, etc. in addition to our competitions. Our goal is to always entertain our audiences across the US by performing the Garba/Raas style of dance at a highly competitive level. We are dedicated to preserving the Indian culture through showcasing our unique and vibrant dance form. We hope to spread our culture and traditions as well as encourage our audiences to embrace and enjoy Garba/Raas with the same passion we do. Our team members dedicate vast amounts of time from their lives to be able to participate on this team. Being a full time college student while managing social lives and being on a team with such a large time commitment takes great dedication and pride in our art. Traveling to multiple competitions across the country carries a financial toll, on top of the costs of being a student. If you wish to help us in easing team expenses and want to be a part of our family as a Sponsor, visit the SPONSOR US! section of our webpage, where you can view available sponsorship packages. It is always great to be a Florida Gator and its always the BEST to be a family member of GatoRaas. BoBoBo!
