Our mission is to entertain audiences all around the US by performing traditional Indian Garba/Raas style of dance at a highly competitive level. We are dedicated to preserving the Indian culture through showcasing our unique and vibrant dance form. We hope to encourage diversity and spread awareness of our traditions by performing both on and off campus.

Mission Statement: Guided by our relentless focus on representing the Indian dance of raas/garba, we strive to represent Purdue University with our professionalism, discipline, and perseverance.

Illini Raas
Dance
Illini Raas is an Indian Cultural dance team that started in 2001. Since then we have had much success, placing first in the Raas Category and and Overall Category at the Best of the Best Dance Competition in 2006. For the past two years, Illini Raas placed first at Dandia Dhamaka and went to B.O.B and Raas Nationals! This year, we hope to continue our success and wow audiences and fans nationwide as we start competition season.

UW DangeRAAS Dawgs was founded in 2009 by two undergraduate students at the University of Washington and is the first collegiate Raas team to represent Seattle, WA. This team aims to promote the traditional dance forms of Garba and Raas. Both are folk dances originating in Gujarat, India and are typically performed during festivals like Navaratri and wedding ceremonies. As a team, we strive to create colorful performances combining traditional Raas with the newly invented form of collegiate competitive Raas.

Tar Heel Raas

The intended purpose of the Tar Heel Raas is to actively entertain the general public and raise cultural awareness of the traditional West Indian dances, Raas and Garba; we would also represent the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill at national intercollegiate dance competitions and performances. The vision of the group is to collaborate with other universities in order to increase the awareness of Raas and Garba throughout the nation and to create a unified presence of the Gujarati folk dance.

Welcome to Basmati Raas! With a history of a fun-filled approach to dance, Stanford Universitys Basmati Raas team combines traditional Indian dance moves withcontemporary dance forms and elaborate choreography. Each year, we compete across the country with an unforgettable routine, powerful moves, and a colorful storyline. Since our inception in 2002, Basmati Raas has remained one of the top five garba teams in the country.
