Mission:
The Gujarati Cultural Association of Piedmont is a non-profit organization, which serves the Asian Indian community through sponsored events, to include cultural, educational and social programs.
Demographics:
The association serves the populations of North Carolina’s Piedmont region. Which includes the counties of Guilford, Forsyth, Alamance, Randolph, Davidson, Rockingham and Cabarrus. The Association welcomes participation by membership, of general public, regardless of their religion or culture.
Background:
Gujarati Cultural Association of Piedmont is the largest Indian organization in Western North Carolina and it’s activities have reached 700 families including Asian Indian and other communities. It was incorporated as nonprofit organization on 1994 and was recognized as tax-exempt organization under 501 (c) (3) in October 1998 by the Internal revenue Service under income tax laws. In 1981 a group of 25 Gujarati families gathered in Greensboro to informally form the Gujarati Samaj Foundation of Piedmont. The association had primary purpose to offer and hold religious and social gatherings.
In 1998 the Name Of Association was modified and the Gujarati Cultural Association of Piedmont and new board of directors and executive committees were appointed to manage the organization. Since then, every year, a number of events have been organized with increasing participation from members and non-members.
