Founded in 2003, Hurricane Bhangra strives to bring the Punjabi folk dance bhangra to both the Miami area and nationwide. In Miami, the team participates in local University of Miami functions and other events around the city, both public and private. Hurricane Bhangra has also made a presence on the competitive scene, competing statewide in the annual India Festival held in Tampa, FL and more recently in the annual Diwali Dhamaka held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. In the spring of 2012, the team traveled to its first-ever national competition , My Life Is Bhangra, in Boston, MA.
