Ragamala was established in 1981 with the mission of advancing the traditional performing arts of South Asia through exceptional programming. Since then, it has presented hundreds of concerts featuring many great names of our era. In addition, it has been serving the greater Seattle area through various outreach activities, including workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and organizing Utsav (Seattle’s festival of S. Asian performing arts) with Seattle Center’s Festal.
Ragamala is poised for a revival in 2019, with a new board, and renewed global focus on promoting the art of North Indian (Hindustani) Classical Music through concerts, community outreach and education programs, workshops and lecture-demonstrations by visiting artists, and online material to benefit students and teachers around the world.
