Richa Sharma started singing at the age of 8 and got enrolled in Gandharva Vidyalaya. Her parents were interested in teaching her bhajans at a younger age too. Later she trained for classical music as well as light music at the same time. She has a unique voice that could easily handle both high and low notes and that’s the reason why she added both types of songs in her Bollywood singing collection. Though she handled pop singing nicely, we can easily trace her classical base in those songs proving her versatility. She went to Mumbai to seek opportunities in Bollywood and Salma pe dil aa gaya of 1997 was her debut movie as a singer. Taal of 1999 was the biggest break for her playback singing career. A solo song - Ni mein samach gayi and Kahi aag lage sung along with Asha Bhosle made her popular. Then a string of hits followed her, Like Saathiya, Kaante and Zubeidaa. Her other hit songs include "Daras Bina Nahin Chain" of Saawariya, Sajda tera sajda of My name is khan, Jag soona soona lage of Ohm shanthi om along with Rahet Fateh Ali Khan, Nikal chali be of Soch, title track of Baghpan, Item song - Dupatte ka palloo of Tarkeb, Billo Rani of Dhan dana dan goal, Maula maula of Singham, Aval Allah of Patiala House, Zor ka jhatka of Action Replay and Show me your jalwa of Aaja Nachle.
