Sankara Nethralaya - Out of the global blind population of 37 million, 15 million are from India. Strangely, 75 % of these cases are preventable by a simple procedure known as cataract surgery. To address the blindness issue in India, Living Legend, Padmabhushan Dr. S. S. Badrinath started Sankara Nethralaya in 1978 in a modest scale, which today caters to 2,400 outpatients and 200 surgeries per day.
