    Reshmi Nair is a young and talented Kathak performer and choreographer. She started her training in Bharatanatyam at the age of 4 at Noopura Institute of Indian Classical Dance, New York. After graduating from high school, she traveled to India where her practice was given a new dimension through her training in Mohiniyattam at Kerala Kalamandalam. She then joined Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai- the highly traditional and prestigious school of Bharatanatyam, where she graduated after an intensive 4 year diploma course. Underlying her passion for dance was her love for the North Indian classical art form, Kathak. Reshmi enrolled at the Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography (affiliated to Bangalore University), founded by Dr. Maya Rao which widened her vision not just as a performer but also as a choreographer. After completing her graduation, she continued on at NIKC as a lecturer as well as a faculty member training both children and adults. She was further trained in Kathak by Bharathi Vittal (Bangalore). Reshmi was a principle dancer of the performing unit of NIKC, the Natya STEM Dance Kampni, headed by Madhu Nataraj. She traveled and performed at both national and international platforms touring the US, India and Dubai with the Kampni. She has given Kathak solo performances in the United States as well as in Japan, Korea, India and Canada. She performed in front of the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in 2016 and is the recipient of the Natya Kala Jyothi Award. Her dedication towards the promotion of the performing arts and her training for the past 24 years has given Reshmi the motivation to explore her path as an artist.
