"I am a professional classical dancer right now working in India. I moved to New York in December, 2017 to pursue dance full time. I practice a South Indian classical dance form called Kuchipudi. Like any other Indian classical dance it evokes a kind of a spiritual catharsis. Learning an Indian classical dance style means getting to know the Indian mythology, about the religion Hinduism, culture, traditions, beliefs, music etc. Indian classical dance consists of many yoga like postures but much more beautified. So, it is also a doorway to learn a little bit of Yoga. This dance style compels one to be equipped with Indian classical music, theatrical nuances, Yoga and the rhythmic calculations. This dance style, Kuchipudi is a very graceful dance which involves temple sculpture like postures and positions and exciting rhythmic patterns. Naturally, a person learning an Indian classical dance learns Sanskrit as well."
