  • The Ohio Theatre's opening night, February 14, 1921, revealed one of Playhouse Square's most elaborate lobbies with a breathtaking frescoed ceiling, stately Corinthian columns and three large murals, all of which would be lost to a devastating lobby fire in 1964 and then ambitiously re-created in 2016. In addition to legitimate theater productions, such musical greats as Sophie Tucker, Benny Goodman and Ozzie Nelson would play the Ohio. The venue also boasted a brief (1935-36) incarnation as the Mayfair Casino, an elegant supper club featuring both a circular lobby bar and a circular performance stage. Today, the intimate Ohio seats 1000.

The E-Line (Routes operate from 7 a.m. 7 p.m. Monday through Friday*) serves the Warehouse District on West 9th and West 6th streets, Public Square and Tower City, the Entertainment District on East 4th Street, the theaters at Playhouse Square, Cleveland State University, and other commercial spots on Lower Euclid Avenue. The C-Line (Routes operate from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. weekends.*) connects the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland and the future Medical Mart and Convention Center, with stops at Playhouse Square, East Fourth Street area and Historic Warehouse District. RTA operates an extensive rail service with free parking for about 7,000 vehicles. All three

In fact, at just $20, the on-site Playhouse Square garage is priced lower than other parking facilities at every downtown entertainment and sports venue, where prices are sometimes more than double on event night for lots that can be several blocks away. The garage offers a covered walkway into the theaters. The walkway is accessible from the 2nd floor of the garage and elevators are available on each parking level. Purchase night or weekend parking in the Playhouse Square Parking Garage (located at 1450 Chester Avenue) in advance and save! Note: On the day of your performance, you will not be able to purchase Playhouse Square Parking Garage passes online or at the Ticket Office. Drive-up on-site parking may still be available at the published on-site rate. Valet Parking Valet parking is a service provided by VIP Valet at Playhouse Square. For your convenience, Valet is available on both sides of Euclid Ave. in front of the theaters. It is also available in front of the Hanna Theatre on E. 14th St. Normal hours of operation are two (2) hours before the first performance until after the last performance for all evening and weekend performances. Accessibility If you need wheelchair assistance or to be dropped off, please pull up in front of the theater you are attending and a RedCoat volunteer will be happy to assist.
