Cornell Big Red Raas

- Founded in 2005, Cornell Big Red Raas is a competitive Raas/Garba dance team. Raas/Garba is a traditional dance originating in Gujarat, India, but BRR revamps it with modern moves for a truly energizing and crowd-pleasing performance. Our team is committed to spreading the joy and vibrance of this dance both on campus and around the country. We've been to competitions in Chicago, New Jersey, California, New York City, Philadelphia, Syracuse, Ann Arbor, Atlanta and we rock the stage every time! And this past year, we received 1st place at Beat of Raas, a national bid competition! After a great season in 2016-2017, our team is working hard to show off our talents in the Raas competition circuit and bring BRR to a new level of awesome. At home on Cornell's beautiful campus, BRR performs at numerous events and showcases. Whether it's center stage at Bailey Hall or elsewhere around campus, we love to perform at home and display our skills to the Cornell community. In the Spring, we also organize and host our very own Raas Showcase and we hope to put together an even bigger, better, and more exciting show to do that once again in 2017! With over 20 members, the team has grown to be a strong competing force at the competitions we attend. But more important than our strength as a dance troupe is our strength as a family. The members of the team quickly become close friends at college and long afterwards. We participate in many fun activities together, from camping excursions and corn-maze trips to snowtubing and skydiving to the casual weekend brunch. We truly believe in and live by our chant: One Team, One Love, BIG RED RAAS!! About
