UCLA Nashaa
Dance
UCLA Nashaa is one of the premier Bollywood-Fusion dance teams in the country. Operated completely by students attending The University of California, Los Angeles, Nashaa is an expression of the intoxicating culture, joy, and exuberance that is indicative of the Bollywood genre.

Lashkara at UC Davis

The University of California, Davis Hindi Film Dance Team, Lashkara, meaning the spark of light, is an intercollegiate competitive group that strongly values leadership, responsibility, and excellence both academically and on stage. Lashkara was started seven years ago, with the goals of creating lasting friendships, improving the dance skills of each team member, and maintaining a strong sense of South Asian pride on campus. Our performances incorporate jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and Indian classical dance styles alongside energetic Bollywood choreography and captivating storylines.

UC Berkeley Azaad

We are the University of California, Berkeley's co-ed, competitive Hindi Film Dance team! UCB Azaad, referring to "independence or freedom", is excited to bring a fresh, new taste of Bollywood to Berkeley! The team is based on dedication, passion and energy, with the primary goal of creating productions that entertain and motivate audiences to connect with the Bollywood culture. After eight years of collegiate competitions, Azaad has been extremely successful and has entertained audiences nationwide. Combining Indian classical, folk, and modern styles of dance, we take pride in our creative choreography and production elements, as we hope to set the bar higher and higher each year.

NYU Pandemonium

Founded in 2005, NYU Pandemonium is a premier, all-male Hip-Hop, Bhangra, and Bollywood fusion dance team. Our mission is to promote cultural diversity through art forms, hoping to connect the East and the West. A lot has changed since our founding, but one thing has stayed the same: our motto. No glitter, no make up... just dance.

UCI Zamana
Dance
Zamana is the succesor of UCI's hindi film dance team, Sitaare. The goal of both UCI Sitaare and now UCI Zamana is to develop teamwork, creativity, culture, and organization while entertaining audience members across the nation. Every year, UCI's hindi film dance team travels to different regions of the United States to perform in national competitions as well as different showcases. Sitaare has won several national awards in the past including a 1st place prize at Phillyfest (Philadelphia, PA) and 2nd place at Bollywood Berkeley (Berkeley, CA). Zamana has also had the privilege of going to Bollywood America in both 2010, 2012, and 2015.

Minnesota Junoon

Bollywood fusion is a dance style that incorporates many different styles of dance into one routine. Most notably, Bollywood fusion includes classic Bollywood, hip-hop, and Indian classical dance. Minnesota Junoon fuses these styles to bring a unique viewing experience for the audience. Minnesota Junoon was founded at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities and aims to spread culture and art through the form of dance. We intend to do this by performing in local shows and competing at a national level. This past season we have competed in Texas and Wisconsin and have placed second at one of our competitions. Through our efforts, we hope to increase awareness of both Indian culture and the issues we address in our performances.

UCSC Kahaani

UCSC Kahaani is the University of Santa Cruz's official Hindi-Film Dance team. Founded in 2015, Kahaani consists of talented dancers who strive to express their passion and love for the art of Bollywood dance through their "story." Our diverse style of dance is a culmination of modern, contemporary, classical, and conventional steps to depict our representation of what true Bollywood is. Together our team learns from each other and works hard to maintain a positive chemistry and environment when dancing. UCSC Kahaani is a family, and we constantly look forward to the new relationships we get to make on this exciting team!

UCSB Taara

UCSB Taara is not just a dance team with one star. Instead, we shine brightest together. As Santa Barbara's all-female Hindi Film Dance team, we strive to spread and share our culture with other organizations on campus through the universal language of visual arts. We also will be competing with other HFD teams around the nation. We pride ourselves on experimenting with various dance styles: Hindi film dance, bhangra, hip-hop, Indian classical, contemporary, and so much more. However, Taara is not only a mixing pot of different dance styles, but also of cultures and ethnicity created to acquire the unique backgrounds, characteristics, and talents of each individual dancer, and apply it to create a stellar and unforgettable performance on and off the stage.
